These rules prohibit the use of terms like “anti-wrinkle injections,” “dermal fillers,” or specific product names in marketing materials, as they reference Schedule 4 substances. Additionally, advertising cannot include testimonials, before-and-after photos, or price lists for these treatments.
The TGA’s goal is to ensure that decisions about prescription treatments are made during consultations with qualified healthcare professionals, prioritizing patient safety and informed consent. Clinics are now required to describe services in terms of the conditions treated (e.g., “treatments for facial lines” or “volume enhancement”) rather than the medicines used. The TGA is actively monitoring compliance and offering guidance through industry information sessions.
